Amb un doctorat en Ciències de la Computació i màsters en Dret i Economia, la trajectòria de Simona abasta la tecnologia, el dret i l'economia, amb investigacions científiques situades a la intersecció d'aquestes disciplines. La seva experiència professional inclou rols a l'acadèmia, la indústria tecnològica, start-ups, i en la formulació de polítiques públiques. Ha format part d'institucions de recerca de prestigi, com Bell Labs Paris i LINCS, i ha estat col·laboradora activa en diversos projectes de recerca finançats per la UE.
