Carles Peiró has joined the UPF Barcelona School of Management (UPF-BSM) at the start of the new academic season as Deputy Director General for Strategy and Business Development. Peiró comes to the School with more than 15 years of experience in the Business School and Higher Education sector, where he has held various positions on international and national executive boards, focusing on areas of business strategy, international expansion, new business models, design and implementation, high-performance team building and change management. In his area of responsibility firstly as CCO, and later as General Manager, he has led Higher Education and Business School projects with a strong impact on national and international markets, achieving sustained growth over time and always focusing on excellence in service.
Peiró now has the challenge of leading UPF-BSM's business strategy in a global and transversal way for the coming years, which is a crucial qualitative leap to achieve the milestones that have been set
The new Deputy Director General said: "I take on the challenge of joining the UPF-BSM project as head of strategy and business development with responsibility, pride, and ambition. Responsibility, because I will be able to help lead the School at a key moment for its growth and development in the coming years, on the way to becoming a triple accredited Business School, with all that this entails for the transformation of the project. Pride, because I have the opportunity to put myself at the head of a team that has been key in recent years and that I hope will have a bigger impact under my responsibility. And ambition, because I set myself the long-term goal making the School into a key player within the Business School and Higher Education industries, and I am fully convinced that we have what it takes to do so.”
The Director General of UPF-BSM, José M. Martínez-Sierra, is delighted for the incorporation of Peiró, since he considers that "he is a guarantee of specialized professional leadership, and what we need to fulfil our promise: of getting UPF-BSM recognized as a triple accredited world-class School of Management. We have to make decisions that will help us enhance the transformation of the School and how we are perceived externally to make us more attractive to future students, and the decision to incorporate Carles is fundamental in this sense".
"Peiró is a guarantee of specialized professional leadership and what we need to get UPF-BSM recognized as a triple accredited world-class School of Management", said the Director General
Peiró now has the challenge of leading UPF-BSM’s business strategy in a global and transversal way for the coming years, something that will represent a crucial qualitative leap for reaching the milestones that have been set. All the key areas in this process will therefore depend on him: Communication and Reputation; Marketing and Sales; Online; and the China Global Strategy.
Last April, UPF-BSM obtained EQUIS accreditation, the most prestigious institutional distinction for administration and business schools, thus becoming the first business school linked to a public university to obtain it in the country. After obtaining EQUIS, and AMBA accreditation in 2021, the School has now set the sights on the objective of obtaining AACSB accreditation, and therefore the Triple Crown, which only 1% of business schools in the world have achieved.
"The desire to acquire the Triple Crown in the coming years forces us to consolidate some of the good actions already undertaken, but also to intensify others," said Martínez-Sierra, referring to the signing of Peiró, which will allow us to "promote our business model, from the point view of academic and professional rigour".
