In October, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that global warming is the greatest health threat mankind currently faces. In this context, the proposed expansion of Barcelona-El Prat Airport has been at the center of the debate on what kind of economic growth is compatible with environmental sustainability.
In order to deepen on the subject and reflect on the pros and cons of the expansion of the air infrastructure, the Online Postgraduate Course in Public Health of the UPF Barcelona School of Management (UPF-BSM) organizes along with the Master in Public Health of the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and with the collaboration of the Public Health Agency of Barcelona (ASPB) and the Department of Health of the Catalan Government the conference "Climate change, economy and health: regarding the proposal to expand Barcelona airport".

On February 2, the researcher and former Scientific Director of ISGlobal and Professor of Medicine at the UPF Hospital del Mar, Prof. Josep Maria Antó, and the Director of the Observatory of Analysis and Evaluation of Public Policies of the University of Barcelona (UB), Mr. Germà Bel, will discuss the subject, moderated by Ms. Gema Revuelta, Director of the Master in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication of the UPF-BSM and of the Center for the Study of Science, Medicine and the Environment (CCS-UPF).
The event, which can be followed by streaming or in person upon registration at the Balmes Building Auditorium, will be attended by the Director General of the UPF-BSM, Prof. José M. MartÃnez-Sierra. At the end of the conference, there will be a Q&A session for the attendees.
