Marcos Eguiguren joins the Nactiva Advisory Board

Marcos Eguiguren s’integra al Consell Assessor de Nactiva

The Associate Provost and Director of the International Center in Sustainable Finance of the UPF Barcelona School of Management, Marcos Eguiguren, has been appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of Nactiva, the first Market Builder focusing on protecting and regenerating natural capital. Based in Barcelona, it strives to generate a transformative impact throughout the Mediterranean region.

Nactiva was established as an organization working for the common interest and benefit as a non-profit company led by two entrepreneurs, Joan Cabezas and Silvia Alsina, and their respective organizations, The Palladium Group and Roman. It recently began operating with the financial support of ten companies and its seven founding partners.

With its headquarters in Barcelona, Nactiva plans to spend all its future revenues and profits on identifying, selecting, designing, accelerating, raising financing (public, private and philanthropic) and supporting the implementation of business ventures that regenerate natural capital in the region, focusing on four key areas: Water, Coastline, Forests and Soil.

Marcos Eguiguren is the Associate Provost for Strategic Projects at the UPF Barcelona School of Management, and also the Director of the Chair in Sustainable Finance created in collaboration with Triodos Bank. Eguiguren is a member of various different Board of Directors, including at the Banca Ética Latinoaméricana in Chile. He co-founded Triodos Bank’s operations in Spain and is the only Spaniard to date to have been on the Board of Directors of Triodos Bank NV at an international level, as well as being on the bank’s Audit and Risk Committee (2008-2015). From October 2014 to July 2020, he was the first Executive Director of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values. He is also an ambassador of the Transparency Task Force (London) and a founding member of the International League of Ethical Financial Services Leaders (currently being constituted, London).

As well Marcos Eguiguren, Nactiva’s Advisory Board boasts other highly respected figures in the field of the economics of the impact and activation of natural capital:

- Ignasi Ferrer, the Executive President and Founder of Seastainable Ventures (SV) and an Advisor to the World Ocean Council (WOC).

- Clara Navarro, the CEO and Co-Founder of the Ship2B Foundation.

- Fèlix Riera, the Director of Rethink Barcelona and Co-Director of the cultural journal HänseliGretel.

- Salvador Rueda, the President of the Fundación Ecología Urbana y Territorial.

- Rafael Sardá, A Scientific Researcher at the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) and Associate Professor at ESADE.

Since the initial design phase of the project in 2022, Nactiva has had the support of Foment del Treball and financing from its seven Founding Partners: Agbar, Naturgy, Celsa Group, Cementos Molins, Grupo Catalana Occidente, Grant Thornton, and Flax & Kale. Moreover, three other corporations have joined the project: Global Impact Assets, Ametller Origen and CaixaBank.
