This year, the sport conference, organised by the Master in Sports Management packed the auditorium at UPF Barcelona School of Management. The conference kicked off at 9 o'clock in the morning, bringing together experts, entrepreneurs, business people and students to reflect on technology's place in the sport industry. The four talks at the conference dealt with the future challenges posed by technology. They spoke of technological applications for athletes' performance, the digital transformation of clubs and organisations, the possibilities that data analysis offers to make the industry profitable and how new technologies are changing the rules of the game.
This year speakers included Mounir Zok, Managing Director from N3xt Sports and a former member of the United States Olympic Committee; Marc Subirà, Head of Data at FC Barcelona and Pedro A. de Alarcón Head of Big Data for Social Good & Sports Analytics at Telefónica. Representatives of sport start-ups such as Skitude and Patadon, as well as established companies that continue to be leaders in the sector, such as Al Kamel Systems, were also involved.
