Pau Verrié steps down as general director of IDEC after 17 years

1 Septiembre - 2010

On 15 July Pau Verrié stepped down as general director of IDEC. On 1 April 1993 he was asked by the rector of UPF, the lecturer Enric Argullol, to create a UPF centre to develop continuous education and postgraduate studies, a commission which was carried out in October 1993 with the creation of IDEC as a foundation formed by UPF and a group of companies and institutions. That same month, Pau Verrié was appointed as the first general director of IDEC, a post he has occupied until now. In these 17 years, 93,000 people have participated in the activities of IDEC, of whom 27,000 have obtained master's or postgraduate qualifications. In total, there have been 10,000 foreign participants in the programmes delivered both in Barcelona and abroad, and 20,000 participants in in-company programmes.

During this time, Pau Verrié has represented IDEC Pompeu Fabra University in various networks, both national and international. He was founder and chair of ACECU, the Catalan University Continuous Education Network, founder and chair of ForQ, the Catalan association of business schools and university foundations, founder of the Spanish network RUEPEP, member of the Steering Committee of the European network EUCEN, founder and member of the Executive Committee of the Latin American network RECLA and representative to EFMD, CLADEA and PRME. In the coming years Pau Verrié will continue in Pompeu Fabra University in a project connected to the rector's office.
