As part of the activities organised by the UPF Barcelona School of Management to celebrate Women's Day on 8 March, the Culture Programme raffles among students up to 25 two-month subscriptions to watch feminist content on Filmin. The online platform has created the "GRRRLS!" list for the UPF-BSM, featuring over 400 titles to see women in action, both in front and behind the camera.
The compilation includes the latest gender-sensitive releases such as The Glorias (2020), by Julie Taymor, or Emma (2020), by Autumn de Wilde, as well as several LGTBI+ and trans visibility proposals. From Rara (2017), by Pepa San Martín, or A Dog Barking at the Moon (2020), by Lisa Zi Xiang; to Tomboy (2011), by Céline Sciamma and Resistencia Trans (2019), by Claudia Reig. In addition, Filmin has chosen fiction and non-fiction from all over the world, offering a wide range of women filmmakers from Asia; South America woman directors and French female authors with their own voice, as well as feature films about feminism in the Middle East.
"GRRRLS!" pays tribute to great pioneers such as the singer Aretha Franklin; the judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the actress Hedy Lamarr or the artist Kamasa, among others; recalls great names of the past and the present in the world of cinema such as Mélanie Laurent, Ava DuVernay, Agnès Varda or Mia Hansen-Løve, and also highlights the new voices that will shape the future of the global cinema. With regard to non-fiction, this subscription allows you to watch internationally awarded documentaries such as Womanhood (2018), by Beryl Magoko; RBG (2018), by Julie Cohen and Betsy West; or Sacred Water (2016), by Olivier Jourdain, amongst others.
On Friday 12 March there will be a draw among all participants and the winners will be announced at noon. Those of you who are students in the 2020/2021 course at UPF Barcelona School of Management, do not hesitate to participate.
