Barcelona’s International Independent Film Festival, D’A 2014, awarded its Public Choice Prize as a result of the votes cast in all of the sessions during the festival, to the Catalan production Sobre la marcha (The Creator of the Jungle), a documentary written and directed by Jordi Morató, a student on UPF-IDEC’s Master in Creative Documentary. The showing of the film prompted a two minute long standing ovation for the director and the main character. Sobre la marcha (The Creator of the Jungle) is his first feature film and the final project of his Degree in Audiovisual Communication at UPF. The film was produced as result of the collaboration between Pompeu Fabra University and La Termita Films, production company of Isaki Lacuesta, who also studied the Master in Creative Documentary which is directed by Jordi Balló and Isa Campo. A combination of a documentary, found footage and a biography, this film is about individual rebellion and the role played by cinema. The result is an unusual concept, portraying an unforgettable character who also fascinated the public at the Rotterdam Festival. Special mention was also made of the work at the Malaga Film Festival.
Additionally at the D’A 2014 Festival, the New Talent Critics Award wasawarded to the French film Mouton, written and directed by Marianne Pistone and Gilles Deroo.
