Representatives from more than 15 business schools from all over Europe attended the Capacity Building Workshop on Sustainability and Responsible Management organized today in Barcelona by AMBA and BGA.
The UPF Barcelona School of Management started the proceedings with a speech by its Director General, José M. Martínez-Sierra, who emphasized the importance of transferring sustainability to the business world. “Sustainability and social impact have become a fundamental pillar of the strategies of companies, public and private institutions, and business schools, so we must work together in a process of mutual and continuous learning for the benefit of society, in a scenario in which public-private cooperation will become even more important,” explained the Director General.
On our panel, “The UPF-BSM Leading Change: Our Methodology for Assessing the Social Value of Business Schools”, Ana Freire, Vice Dean of Social Impact and Academic Innovation at UPF-BSM, and Erola Palau, Director of the Master of Science in Sustainability Management at UPF-BSM, took the floor to share with attendees how the school quantitatively calculates the social value it generates for its stakeholders. “With this methodology, we want to measure in a very tangible and real way the impact we have in terms of sustainability,” said Erola Palau, who also encouraged attendees to share their measurement methodologies and success stories.
Attendees had the opportunity to discuss their visions, challenges and opportunities in relation to how business schools integrate sustainability throughout all their areas and how they measure the positive impact that their schools generate both locally and internationally.
AMBA and BGA organize this type of event in cities around the world with the aim of fostering contact and the exchange of best practices among business schools.
