Curriculum

In the Master in Sports Management you will have to take all the compulsory subjects, which cover the main areas belonging to the sports sector, as well as some specialised subjects related to marketing and communication in sport, management of sports entities and innovation and digital transformation of sport. In addition, you will have the possibility to complement the curriculum with the choice of 4 elective subjects.

You will also have to complete a group Final Master's Project that will consist on developing a business plan, the implementation of an improvement plan for an existing business or a research study applied to the sports sector.

Master's final project

The Master's Final Project consists of the presentation of a project or study in which the participants must apply the knowledge learned during the course and use instruments and methods to identify and solve problems. This is a group project that has the support of an expert mentor in sports management.

The Master in Sports Management also includes the possibility of participating in practical activities and activities for personal and professional growth such as:

  • Training Supplements: Initial preparation course for participants who need to take them depending on their previous training: Introduction to Economics, Analytic Tools, Accounting and Finance, and Introduction to Business.
  • UPF-BSM Inside: is a group of interdisciplinary subjects (applied data, communication, creativity, innovation and project management, sustainability and leadership among others) that, if you take this program, you can access at no additional cost. They are 100% online and you can take them throughout the academic year at your own pace, as they have been designed as self-study subjects.
  • International mobility: The UPF Barcelona School of Management offers you the possibility of expanding your training and international vision through the International Mobility Programme. Extend your studies extracurricularly, during the academic year following the completion of your Master's, at a top-level institution. Limited places.

Qualification obtained

Once students have completed the course they will obtain the Màster Universitari en Gestió Esportiva - Máster Universitario en Gestión Deportiva, issued by the Pompeu Fabra University.

Issuance of official Master's Degrees: The amount stipulated in the DOGC (Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia) must be paid for the rights to issue the degree. This rate varies annually and the rate in force at the time of application for the degree will be applied.

The objective of the Master in Sports Management methodology is that the student can obtain practical tools that lead to the proper management of the departments that make up a sports entity. To do this, you will have professors responsible for training you in specific areas of the sports sector, areas related to marketing and communication, sports management and its areas of action and innovation in the sector and its digital transformation. This will make you a capable and prepared professional for the future professional challenges facing sports management.

Group Master's Final Project

The Master's Final Project is an applied research project in which it is intended that students use the knowledge learned and show they know how to use the instruments and methods for the identification and resolution of problems that will have been dealt with throughout the course. It is a group project that has the support of a mentor throughout the course.

You will have a mentor specialized in sports management according to the characteristics of your project. The mentor will help you identify teachers, projects, companies, sports entities, and reference activities with which to contrast and enrich your project.
