Students of the MSC in Management win first prize in the UPF-ACCID awards for their Volkswagen case study

16 Noviembre - 2017

First prize for the best case study 2017, awarded by the Catalan Association of Accounting and Management (ACCID), in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the UPF Barcelona School of Management, has gone to the Volkswagen case study, written by Anneke Kika, Kim Schäfer, Daniel Manta and Ioannis Skarpari, students at the UPF Barcelona School of Management. These awards aim to promote the creation of real and practical case studies that can be used later for teaching using the assignments of students at the UPF.

Anneke Kika, Kim Schäfer, Daniel Manta and Ioannis Skarpari, students of the Master of Science in Management at the UPF Barcelona School of Management, presented a case study about Volkswagen, supervised by professor Oriol Amat. The case impeccably analyzes this company's financial situation and its emissions scandal and provides multiple exercises on the main qualitative strengths and weaknesses of the company.

This case study can be found at ACCID's Case Study Centre.

Second prize went to the Fotoprix case study, written by UPF students Marta Lucas, Elena Malavia and Celia Merino; and third prize went to the Abertis case study, written by Pol Borrelas, Alejandro Alzahrawi, Joan Cavallé, Joel Fàbregues, Rosa Ferrando and Ana Suárez, also students at the university.

The three prizes were worth with 1000 euros each.

Fourth prize, worth 500 euros, was split between the Spotify case study, by Juan Barenys, Mireia Falgueras, Maria Garcia, Amadeu Roigé and Claudia Tarradellas; and the Casa Ametller case study, by Laia Barra, Juan Cano, Raquel de Haro, Ángel Delgago and Carla Díaz.
