Carles Murillo, lecturer in the Department of Economics and Business at UPF, has recently been nominated president of the Economic and Statutory Commission of Barcelona FC. Carles Murillo, who had previously acted as a spokesman and secretary for this commission in the area of economics, replaces Xavier Sala i Martín in this post.
Carles Murillo i Fort (Barcelona, 1948) is a graduate and doctor in Economic Sciences from the UB and professor in Applied Economics from the UPF, where he has also been vice-rector in International Relations and Continuous Training.
He is director of the Master's in Sports Direction and Management and of the Master's in International Business. Specialisation in Latin America, Europe and Asia at IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and director of ORLA (Observatory of Relations with Latin America) of this University. He is an expert in matters related to international business and company competitiveness, and his area of research is centred on the analysis of the demand for health care, insurance in the health service sector and statistics applied to health care economy and management.
