China is an indisputable global player in the field of knowledge and therefore the UPF Barcelona School of Management wants to live up to its importance. With this in mind, the school presented the China Global Strategy, a project led by Qianying-Núria Zhou that aims to articulate a space for collaboration between culture, the company, the university and scientific world between China and Spain, in addition to connecting the talents of both countries.

The event was attended by the Director General of UPF-BSM, Jose M. Martinez-Sierra , as well as Honorable Consul General of the P.R. of China in Barcelona, Mr. Zhu Jingyang.

Connect countries

"This is a day of joy for the school: we celebrate and make visible the respect we have for China, for its history, for its culture, for its tradition and for having been able to maintain ancient traditions without neglecting modernity," said the Director General of the UPF-BSM, Jose M. Martinez-Sierra in his speech.

"In a modest and firm way, this school knows, respects, understands and is committed to what China means in the world"

The Director General remarked that "in a modest and firm way, this school knows, respects, understands and is committed to what China means in the world." In this sense, Martinez-Sierra announced that "we will offer our students the opportunity to do internships in Chinese companies or in China, and we want professors to come and teach here, we want to be a bridge with China and the spaces we know".

"The best way to fulfill long-range projects is to go hand in hand with those who know China best and those who have experience in connecting our countries", the Director General added.

A good start

I believe this is a very important project to train managers capable of connecting Spain and China and fostering economic relations between the two countries. ”

The Consul General concluded his speech with a Chinese proverb: "A good start is half the success." In this sense, he wished that the China Global Strategy project has a "happy start and go from strength to strength for the benefit of Chinese and Spanish students and that relations between Spain and China can profit from its work in the training of talent".

Goals

Regarding the goals of the initiative, its Executive Director said that the China Global Strategy wants to “build bridges for the different talents trained at UPF-BSM, who have the ability to lead in international environments, and that they can connect with companies and institutions in both countries ”. Zhou encouraged faculty and students to join the initiative.

Mr. Chuenping Lam Chio, President of the Union Federation of Chinese Associations in Spain and member of the China Global Strategy Advisory Board, also spoke at the event: “China graduates between 8 and 9 million university students every year. I believe that China's power depends, to a large extent, on these students. The Chinese government wants them to return after their higher education abroad, as many do in Barcelona. ”

"Our advisory group are high-level representatives, ambassadors that I hope we can contribute something to make this initiative successful"

“I am delighted and excited to be in this group for this project. I have been in Spain for 50 years, I know the local culture and China well. Our group of advisors are high-level representatives, ambassadors who I hope we can contribute something to make this initiative successful ”, concluded Mr. Lam.
