New Management at BSM-Universidad Pompeu Fabra

The Board appoints Oriol Amat as interim general director and Pilar Soldevila as institute head

Pompeu Fabra University's Barcelona School of Management (UPF Barcelona School of Management) has embarked on an academic process of transformation in line with UPF's goal of becoming a benchmark in educational innovation, research and knowledge transfer. The Governing Council and the UPF Barcelona School of Management Board of Trustees have commissioned the task of leading the process to the professor of Financial Economics and Accounting, Oriol Amat, who has served as the Dean of UPF Barcelona School of Management for the past year. Amat will replace Carme Martinell as the interim General Director of UPF Barcelona School of Management and will continue to perform the role of Dean. Pilar Soldevila has also been named as the Managing Director.

Oriol Amat is professor of Financial Economics and Accounting at Pompeu Fabra University, Associate Dean of the Catalan Economist Association and Vice Cresident of the Catalan Association of Accounting and Management (ACCID). He has taught and directed programs at UPF Barcelona School of Management since its foundation 26 years ago. In September 2018, he was appointed Dean of UPF Barcelona School of Management. He has been Vice-rector of Economics and Information Systems and the Director of the Economics and Business Department at UPF, and is one of the most renowned academic experts working in the finance and accounting sector.

Pilar Soldevila has a great experience in the field of management, both in the public and private sector. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from the UPF, and degree in Business Administration from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and University of Barcelona. She has been Director of Coordination and Strategic Municipal Management Projects in the Barcelona City Council for the past seven years, General Director of the Balmes University Foundation at the University of Vic, assistant to the General Director and Financial Director in several companies. On an academic level, she has spent several years as a teacher in the Department of Economics and Business at the UPF's Faculty of Economic and Business and has published various books on Finance, Cost Accounting and Management Accounting.
