The MSc in Marketing is a program that offers an analytical approach to Marketing, providing students with the technical and creative skills needed to understand how to satisfy customer needs from a strategic, managerial, and empirical perspective.

You will learn to use practical and theoretical tools for choosing markets, anticipating and identifying consumers' needs in order to plan an innovative marketing management strategy adapted to the latest marketing trends and techniques. At the end of the program you will be prepared for managing a company's marketing strategy, whether it is an SME, NGO, a mass-market or a services company.

Practically focused and internationally oriented, this MSc includes the option to undertake a curricular internship and it allows students to choose their preferred elective courses according to their career plans.

Who is it for?

The MSc in Marketing is aimed at recent university graduates and junior professionals with strong quantitative and analytical skills, with previous studies preferably in Economics, Statistics, Communication, and Business Administration. Other degrees are accepted only if the candidate has at least 2 years of marketing-related professional experience.

Curriculum

The MSc in Marketing consists of 4 core modules over 3 terms: Strategic Marketing Planning, Consumer Insights: Market Research, Brand Management, and Communication Management.

During the third term students will be able to choose their elective courses. Students will also prepare and present their MSc thesis, supervised by a specialized faculty member throughout the year.

During the third term or at the end of the master students will do a curricular internship in companies. Career development sessions will be offered to aid students in finding the placement and preparing them for their professional future.

Classes of the MSc in Marketing take place at UPF Ciutadella Campus.

The Master of Science in Marketing also includes the possibility of participating in practical activities and activities for personal and professional growth such as:

  • QTEM Program: After successfully completing the Master of Science in Marketing students have the opportunity to participate in the QTEM Program, an optional and free of charge experience to study abroad at more than 20 top international universities which are leaders in the field of Economics.

  • Brush-up Courses: these online preparatory courses cover business, analytic tools, economics, physical and chemical principles, and environmental subjects. They are designed for students needing a refresher before starting the program and must be completed and passed either before or during the first month of the master's program.
  • Spanish Course: 80% discount during the first trimester for basic Spanish level. Three hours per week at the Language Service of UPF.
  • Career Development Program: career sessions and workshops where participants obtain specific training on how to improve their professional profile, approach potential employers, and develop professional soft skills.
  • International mobility: The UPF Barcelona School of Management offers you the possibility of expanding your training and international vision through the International Mobility Programme. Extend your studies extracurricularly, during the academic year following the completion of your Master's, at a top-level institution. Limited places.
  • UPF-BSM Inside: is a group of interdisciplinary subjects (applied data, communication, creativity, innovation and project management, sustainability and leadership among others) that, if you take this program, you can access at no additional cost. They are 100% online and you can take them throughout the academic year at your own pace, as they have been designed as self-study subjects.

Qualification obtained

Once students have completed the course they will obtain the Màster Universitari en Màrqueting / MSc in Marketing - Máster Universitario en Marketing / Msc. in Marketing official Master's Degree awarded by Pompeu Fabra University.

Students will also receive an additional Master of Science in Marketing completion certificate awarded by the UPF Barcelona School of Management.

Issuance of official Master's Degrees: The amount stipulated in the DOGC (Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia) must be paid for the rights to issue the title. This rate varies annually and the rate in force at the time of application for the degree will be applied.

    Managing Partner of Cuick
    He has a degree in Sports Sciences from the Ramon Llull University and a Master in Marketing and Communication from the Ca'Foscari University of Venice, and a Master in Sports Management from the UPF-BSM. He has worked in the field of retail marketing, digital marketing and logistics in companies such as Decathlon and Nike.
  • Jordi Garolera Berrocal
    Professor at ESCI-UPF
    PhD in Business Administration from IESE. He also holds a bachelor´s in Business Administration from the University of Florida.
  • Alberto Lempira Guevara Chacón
    PhD in Business (Candidate) from Barcelona University
    He is also MSc in Marketing from Pompeu Fabra University. Has a Postgraduate in Social Media and Digital Marketing from Tecnocampus, a Posgraduate in Transmedia Storytelling & Branded Content and a Postgraduate in Inbound Marketing, both from INESDI and a BE in Production Engineering from Metropolitana University (Caracas). Methodology

The Master of Science in Marketing is an on-campus program that combines different teaching methodologies in its various courses in order to offer a rigorous and interactive learning experience, involving both individual and group work.

Seminars and lectures

Seminars provide students with the opportunity to share ideas and experiences as well as to debate different points of view. Many of the seminars are based on practical cases, and most work is carried out as part of a group.

Practical cases

Practical cases provide the background for the application of models and techniques in order to produce insights.

Group-based activities

Classes are mostly interactive and include continuous assessment.

Simulations

Simulations provide an opportunity to practice these models and techniques.

Written examinations

The academic performance of each student is evaluated regularly through written examinations and course work.

Evaluation

The assessment criteria of each course will be explained at the beginning of the term. The evaluation system may vary from course to course but it will be based on the student's performance on a selection of the following activities:

  • Written exams and multiple choice tests
  • Oral presentations
  • Individual works and essays
  • Group projects
  • Class participation and interventions in debates

Tools

Project-oriented learning and the combination of lectures and active methodologies such as case studies, flipped learning, solving real problems and professional simulations allow the student to connect theory and practice, acquire advanced skills and achieve learning which is transferable to work.
